For the remainder of the year candidates who fail a CCIE Lab Exam can re-sit every 30 days. The current policy of waiting 90 days after the first 2 attempts has been waived until Dec 31 2015.
The exact text given by Cisco, which you can find here, is as follows:
“For a limited time, we will waive the current lab retake policy so that all lab candidates will be able to retest for their lab exam with only a 30-day wait period. We’re offering this opportunity in response to your feedback about the challenges faced with longer wait times and difficulty getting a lab seat for retesting. We hear you and we understand your concerns, so we would like to take time to look at the data and evaluate our lab retake policy.
While we do our research, if you register for any CCIE lab exam between now and December 31, 2015, you will have the option of retaking the exam with only a 30-day wait regardless of the number of attempts you may have already made. Get ready to take the next step in your career: register by December 31, 2015.”
Good news for folks who have sat the lab twice and need to wait 90 days for a third attempt.
Happy Independence Day to everybody in the US!
Hi Vik,
Would you consider this to be an indication that the blue print is about to change? I had a couple of attempts at the CCIE Voice before they changed it to Collaboration. I don’t want to be stuck in a situation where I can’t book the exam, due to candidates rushing to sit it before a blueprint change. Also, spending £X000s on kit that might be ‘useless’, for the exam, in six months time, is another concern.
I own the kit for the old lab (4×2811, CUE, 3550 POE switch) and was wondering what you’d recommend regarding the following set up:
Windows 7 PC i5 quad core CPU @ 4.2Ghz 32GB RAM
To run: HQ Pub, Sub, CUC, UCCX, CUPS | SB Pub, Sub, CUC & CUPS
Windows 7 laptop i7 quad core @ 3.5GHz 16GB RAM To run: Backbone VCS/TMS-AD/PUB/Win7PC
2811 for backbone router
3550 POE switch segmented via vlan for HQ, SB and backbone **Edit – looking at the specs, I’d need a 3560 for QoS features. Is there any reason why I’d need more than 1?)
2901/2911 for HQ, SB (whatever I can get cheap)
2911 for SC I already own an AIM cue module fitted to a 2811. Currently running 7.01 due to lack of licensing issues. Is there much difference between 7.01 and 8.5 in terms of features? I work for a Cisco Gold Partner and am planning to purchase the NFR 9.1 study licence from Cisco. Is it possible to request an 8.6 CUE licence for study purposes? Are Cisco sympathetic to candidates requests?
Should I just sell the 2811 and cue module and pony up for a 2911? Also, I’ve seen some adaptors on ebay for PVDM2 to PVDM3. Are you aware of any issues? I presume they can’t run video?
Thanks a lot (great video guide on Youtube!)
Rob
I would use existing kit and use rack rental for the bits and pieces you are missing. I would also not focus too much on the Backbone- just register your PSTN phone to the BB (CME). Don’t let attempting to build a full rack delay your studies otherwise you will be caught between a rock and a hard place once again:-)
